After murdering his father, Marcus Black, Mercury left his home behind to live his own life on the streets of Vale. Everything he had other than the clothes on his back and a small sum of money was burned to the ground, erasing everything of his past to give him nowhere to go but forward. His legs forever crippled, he spent the last of his savings on a pair of weaponized crutches with which to defend himself from those who see a lame man as an easy target.
